Description: Slender body, with a pointed snout, long head and large mouth. Two rows of caninelike teeth, the front one of the first row longer and protruding. Head scaly except for the snout. Red, pink or orange, with no sexual dimorphism. Has a dark blotch on the dorsal fin, another on the upper part of the caudal peduncle, and a small one on the middle part of the caudal fin.
