Description: A damselfish, small, deep-bodied and laterally compressed, with large eyes and small, strongly protractile mouth with conical teeth. Two spines present on the anal fin. Yellow coloured; the males are sometimes purplish during breeding season.
Global Distribution: Eastern Atlantic, including the Azores, Madeira, and the Canary Islands. Also reported from west Africa between Senegal and Congo. View Map
Reproduction: Oviparous. Distinct pairing and courtship ritual during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs.
