Description: A flatfish of the family Soleidae (right-eye flounders). Oval body, strongly compressed, slightly elongate. Eyed side brownish or reddish-grey with a dark blotch on midbody and 4 ocelli, 2 each along the dorsal and anal fins.
Global Distribution: Eastern Central Atlantic from Iberian Peninsula to Sierra Leone, including Madeira and the Canary Islands; Mediterranean Sea; Western Indian Ocean (South Africa).
