Description: Small to medium-sized fish. Body deep and compressed. Large eyes; short rounded snout. A pair of long chin barbels inserted well behind the tip of the lower jaw. Body covered in large scales. Greyish to greenish, with darker head. Lobes of the dorsal, anal and caudal fins with black margins.
Global Distribution: On both sides of the Atlantic. In the eastern Atlantic, it occurs in the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and St. Helena Islands.
