Description: A large edible whelk; has a thick, solid shell with large spiral ridges, white with brown blotches. The last whorl is large and nodose. Aperture wide, oval. The flesh is reddish with scattered brown spots.
Global Distribution: Atlantic, Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific, in temperate and tropical waters.
