Description: A slender grenadier, with a short acute snout, small mouth, and a small chin barbel. Scales with broad spinules, narrow in smaller specimens, shield-shaped in larger ones. Blue or violet coloured, with dusky mouth; outer margins of the gill cavity black.
Global Distribution: North and Central Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
