Description: Body elongate, compressed, tapering posteriorly; long head with broad snout; light organ present as a small scaleless patch on the belly. Pelvic fin with two outermost rays filamentous and slightly extended. Colour dark brown, belly and sides bluish-black.
Global Distribution: Northeastern Atlantic off Portugal, Madeira, Azores and seamounts; also throughout the Mediterranean.
