Description: A deep-water fish. Body moderately elongate, rounded, compressed posteriorly. Large head, premaxillae forming a sharp plate-like visor. Lower jaw ends under the orbit. Teeth on the roof of mouth. Dorsal fin origin behind anal fin origin. Brownish in colour.
Global Distribution: Northeastern Atlantic from Ireland to Cape Verde. Also in the Western Atlantic and Eastern Pacific.
